What a marketing team should ask before hiring a design studio

Pooja Mehta

Who will actually do the work?
Ask for the name of the designer who will open your file on Monday morning, and the name of the senior person who reviews it before you see it. If the answer is a pitch deck of faces, the real answer is "whoever is available". At Osprey Media every project is run by a senior designer, and we tell you who that is in the proposal.
How do revisions work, in numbers?
Two rounds per deliverable is a fair industry norm. What matters more is how feedback is collected. One consolidated round from one decision-maker moves fast. Six people leaving comments on six versions of a PDF does not. Agree the feedback owner on your side before kick-off and you will save a week on every milestone.
What happens after the files are delivered?
Brand work only pays off if the next ten people can use it correctly. Ask whether you get editable source files, a short guideline document, and templates your in-house team can actually open. Ask what a small follow-up request costs. The studios worth keeping will have a clear answer, because they want the relationship to outlast the project.
